7. Sun or Shade
Some plants require more sunlight than others, so make sure you know where to put your plants. Lily of the Valley, ferns, begonias, hydrangeas, and impatiens, for example, thrive in the shade; put them in the sun, and they’ll most likely die. On the other hand, daisies, lavender, verbena, and butterfly weed need direct sunlight. You should be able to find all this information on the seed packets or the plastic marker found in the plant’s soil. If you’re still not sure, ask a garden center store employee for help.
